How to merge PDF files
Drop two or more PDFs above. Every page appears as a thumbnail; drag them into the order you want and press Download PDF. You can mix in JPG or PNG images; each becomes a page.
How to split a PDF
Add one PDF, then under Split into several PDFs choose "Every N pages" (N = 1 gives one file per page) or type ranges such as 1-3; 4-6; 7-. You get a ZIP with one PDF per part. To pull out just a few pages, click them and press Download selected pages.
Rotate, delete and reorder pages
Use ↻ on a page (or select several and press Rotate selected), ✕ to remove a page, and drag or ◀ ▶ to move it. Rotations are saved into the new PDF.
How to compress a PDF without uploading it
Add the PDF, open Pro tools → Compress and pick Balanced (good for email) or Strong (smallest). Each page is redrawn as an image at that resolution; tick “make it searchable” to keep the text selectable. Lossless keeps text and quality and only trims the file structure.
How to make a scanned PDF searchable (OCR)
Pro tools → OCR reads every page with Tesseract (English) on your device and adds an invisible text layer, so search, select and copy work. The OCR engine downloads once (about 7 MB) and stays cached.
How to redact a PDF properly
Type the names, numbers or words to remove (or tick emails, phone numbers, SSNs, card numbers). Pages with a match are flattened into an image with black boxes burned in, so the hidden text can't be copied back out, unlike a black rectangle drawn on top.
Why not iLovePDF or Smallpdf?
They're good tools, but they process files on their servers and charge $9/month or $60/year (iLovePDF Premium) and $15/month (Smallpdf Pro) on their own pricing pages (checked 1 Oct 2026). Pagebraid Pro is $7/month, $48/year or $5 for 30 days, and your files never leave your device.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Pagebraid is a static web page: the PDF engine (pdf-lib) and the page previews (Mozilla's pdf.js) run inside your browser, and the page loads nothing from other sites (the only network call is the licence check for Pro keys, which sends the key and nothing else). Once opened, it even works offline. That makes it safe for contracts, bank statements, medical forms and anything else you shouldn't hand to an upload site.
Is it really free? Any watermark?
Free, no sign-up, no page limits and no watermark unless you add your own.
Password-protected PDFs
Encrypted PDFs can't be edited here yet. Open the file in your PDF reader, remove the password, then add it again.
Does it keep links and form fields?
Page content, images, fonts and annotations are copied as they are. Bookmarks (the outline) and interactive form logic are not carried over to the new file.
Privacy policy
Pagebraid (this page and the Pagebraid Chrome extension) collects no personal data. PDFs and images you add are read and written only on your device and are never uploaded to CyberMax or anyone else. There are no accounts, analytics cookies or ads in the tool. If you buy Pagebraid Pro, payment is handled by Stripe, and the app checks your licence key with CyberMax's licence server (only the key is sent, never your files). The Chrome extension asks for no permissions: its toolbar button just opens this workspace inside the extension. This web page counts anonymous page views; the extension does not.
